He was first a son, then a brother, and then a husband. Coby is survived by his loving parents, Ken- neth and Wanda Shelton of Manchaca; brothers Kevin Wood of Buda and Casey Craddick of Austin; sister Ashley Craddick Montgom- elI of Huffman, TX and his wife, Corissa. Coby is also survived by nieces, nephew, extended family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all of us. Services were held at Hat- tell Funeral Home in Kyle on Thursday, January 3. Recep- tion followed at Hays Hills Baptist Church in Buda. KELLEY Carlton Leon "C. K." Kel- ley, 58, of Kyle, formerly of Houston and Burnet, died Monday, December 31, 2012. He was an electrician by trade. Services were held Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet. MARTIN Vondelle Graef Martin, 74, of Creedmoor, passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2012. She was born on February 4, 1938, in Creed- moor, to Kolmar and Melda (Schaefer) Graef. She is survived by her son, Chuck M. Martin of Creedmoor; one brother, Arlon Graef of Taylor; two sisters, Altha Schaarschmidt of Lockhart, and Veleria Hohertz of Maxwell; one sister-in-law, Janet Graef; and one brother-in-law, Bill Burklund. Family received friends at McCurdy Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan. 2. Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 3, at Live Oak Cemetery in Buda, with Pastor Anamae Storbeck officiating. MUNOZ Retired CW4 Adrian Figueroa Mufioz, St. age 79, of Kyle passed to join our heavenly father on Monday, January 1, 2013 at his residence surround- ed in the love and presence of his family. Adrian was born to Ofilia and Santana Mufioz Sr. at the King Ranch on Oct. 15, 1933. He was preceded in death by his brother Santana Munoz Jr., and his mother and father. He was married to Maria Gracelia Rivas on March 10, 1956 in Falfurrias, Tx. Adrian grew up in south Texas and graduated from Premont High School. He was drafted into the Army after graduation and served 39 years in the Army and National Guard. While in service, he attended Liberty University in VA. He was a Korean war veteran and served in Germany. He is a retiree from the military, Federal Government, and the State of Texas. Among numerous med- als, awards and recognitions Adrian received, some of the most notable are: Meritori- ous Service Medal, Lone Star Distinguished Service Medal and Texas Faithful Service Medal awarded six times. Adrian enjoyed spending time with family, dancing, camping, hunting, being a Longhorn fan and making others happy through his occasional days of being a clown. He was a musician who loved music and played the drums, accordion, and guitar. He served and exem- plified the life of a Christian man through his time and contributions as a Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus. Adrian is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gracie, daughter Yvonilda (Juan) Amador, son Adrian (Stacy) Mufioz Jr., daughterYvette Mufioz, daughter Yvelda Mufioz, daughter Ysolette Nicoson, 17 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Also, Trina Wilkins, Ramiro Valdez, Bryan Dailey and other family members. Mass and funeral service were held Monday, January 7 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Kyle. Burial fol- lowed at Central Texas State Veteran's Cemetery in Killeen. Monetary donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the American Alzheimer's Asso- ciation and/or the American Heart Association in honor of Adrian E Muhoz Sr. Special thanks to the United States Army Honor Guard, Knights of Columbus and the Patriot Guard Riders of Central Texas for their assistance on the day of the funeral. STEEN MatthewAllan Steen, 19, of Buda, passed away unexpect- edly on Thursday, January 3, 2013, in Austin. Matthew was born on July 21, 1993 to Wil- liam Allan Steen and Donna Lynne Steen in Austin. He graduated from Hays High School in 2011. Anyone who knew Mat- thew knows that his favorite word was "LOVE." Matthew wrote the word LOVE on every surface he found and it was also his password to unlock his cell phone. LOVE is a perfect word for Matthew because LOVE is exactly what he brought to everyone that touched his life. His beautiful hazel eyes and smile touched all of us. We are forever blessed with the 19 wonderful years that GOD gifted us with him. Matthew will forever be in the hearts of his family and many friends. Matthew is survived by his parents William and Donna Steen; brother Bradley Steen; grandparents Scotty Steen, Ju- dith McComis, Charles Wolff and KathyWeber; uncle ]ames Wolff; and cousins, Alexandria and Ashley Wolff. A memorial to celebrate his life will take place at Harrell Funeral Home in Kyle at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2013. A reception will be held at the Buda Methodist Church - Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. COURTESY PHOTO First baby born in 2013 at CTMC Megan Palomo and fiance Jesse Rivera welcomed their first child, Janiyah Angel Rivera, into the world on Jan. 1 at 1:51 a.m. at Central Texas Medical Center's (CTMC) Women's Center. The birth marked the first in Hays County for 2013. "That's something she'll be able to remember for the rest of her life," Palomo said. Janiyah was born one month premature, weighing only 3 Ibs., 15 oz. She is currently in the CTMC Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and is scheduled go home next week. Palomo and Rivera were not expecting to ring in the new year with childbirth, but when they went for a check-up the doctor ordered a cesarean-section, which was performed by OB/ GYN Jenifer Kowalik. Although the delivery didn't go as expected, Palomo and Rivera are eager to embark on their new life together as parents.
