A campaign to keep Texas beaches clean STAFF REPORT The Texas General Land Office is host- ing the 16th annual Adopt-A-Beach "Trea- sures of the Texas Coast" children's art contest encouraging everyone to keep Texas beaches clean. Elementary school students, 'including home-schooled stu- dents, have the opportunity to win a Ca- ribbean cruise, airline tickets, a class party at SchlitterbahnWaterpark in New Braun- fels and a ticket to the Texas State Aquari- um in Corpus Christi by entering. March 5, 2012. is the deadline for sub- mitting artwork illustrating that "Trash- ing Texas Beaches Isn't Cool." Ten winners will be chosen from each of the following categories: kindergarten, first and sec- , ond grades: third and fourth grades; fifth grade; and sixth grade. One grand prize winner will be chosen from the 40 winners. The grand prizewin- ner's teacher also will receive two round- trip tickets from United Airlines and a seven-night Caribbean cruise courtesy of Royal Caribbean Cruises All 40 winners will receive a ticket to the Texas State Aquarium, two all-day passes to Schlitterbahn, two tickets to the perma- nent exhibit hall at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, prizes and a certifi- cate of recognition from the Texas Gen- era] Land office and a calendar displaying their artwork.
