II I I Obituaries MILLER Opal Irene Miller, 95, of Lyton Springs, Texas formerly ' of Austin, passed away January 30, 2003. She was born November 3, 1907, in Amazonia, Missouri to Albert and Selma Schweizer. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-eight years, Oren Wiedmer Miller. Opal is survived by a son, Albert Dean Miller and wife, , Faye of Austin; and adopted ; daughter, Judy Kay Nolting and I husband, Kenneth Nolting of I Dale. 1 ,, She was fortunate enough to '. have five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. , Memorial services were held February 4 at Harrell Funeral I Home. t I The family would like to 'L give our sincere thanks to Central Texas Hospice; espe- ; cially Cindy, Francis, JoAnn, : and Ron Scott. I In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Central Texas :" Hospice of San Marcos. e 0 SANTOS Jose Lnis Santos, our beloved father, son, brother and uncle, resi- dent of Buda, was called to his eter- nal rest to be with our heavenly father on February 4, 2003 at the age of 40 years. He is survived by his daughter, Christina Santos of Laredo; moth- er, Maria Santos of Buda; father, Raul Santos, Sr. of Florida; broth- ers, Raul Santos, Jr. and wife Thelma of Buda, Nee Santos and wife Josie of Buda, Marie Santos and wife Elizabeth of Buda; sisters, Esther Jimenez and husband Domingo of Idaho, Alicia Obregon and husband Juan of Kyle, Araceci Balladares of Buda, Sara Urrita and husband Jamie of Kyl, Maribel Mann and husband Mark of Cedar Park; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his nephew, Jesse Quiroz. Prayer service was held on February 6 at Los Angeles Funeral Home in San Marcos. Chapel ser- vices will be February 7, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Juan Ramos of the First Mexican Baptist Church of Kyle officiating. Internment will follow in San Miguel Cemetery in Uhland. Serving as Pallbearers were: Raul Santos, Jr., Raul Daniel Santos, Nee Santos, Joey Obregon, Juan Obregon, and Ma WHITESIDE R. V. Whiteside, 96, known by his friends as Vernon, passed away February 2, 2003. He was born August 11, 1906, in Kyle, Texas, son of Sam and Vallie Whiteside. He grew up in Lockhart, Texas, where he played football and was captain of the track team before graduating in 1925. Mr. Whiteside spent most of his life in Pasadena, Texas as an important and honored citizen. He has been honored as a 60-year Mason, endowed member of the Pasadena Masonic Lodge #1155 and 32nd Degree Scottish Rite and a member of the Shrine, both in Miami, Florida. He was inducted into the Pasadena Hall of Fame. Mr. Whiteside is survived by his niece, Patricia Ball of Kaufman, Texas; nephew, Patrick Ball of Houston; stepsons, Jack Carroll of Granbury, Texas, and Gene Carroll of Germantown, Tennessee. He will be loved and remembered by his companion of the past 11 years, Grace Shandley of Beach City; and all of his many other friends. Interment will be at Marble Falls City Cemetery. rk Mann.
