February 6, 2003 Public Netlces Page PUBLIC NOTICES NOTICE OF ELECTION THE STATE OF TEXAS COUNTIES OF HAYS, TRAVIS AND CALDWELL HAYS CONSOLIDATED INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT : TO THE RESIDENT, QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF SAID DISTRICT: TAKE NOTICE that an election will be held in said District as provided in an ORDER CALLING A BoND ELECTION duly passed by the Board of Trustees of said District, which order is substantially as follows: ORDER CALLING A BOND ELECTION THE STATE OF TEXAS COUNTIES OF HAYS, TRAVIS AND CALDWELL HAYS CONSOLIDATED INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT : WHEREAS, this Board of Trustees deems it advisable to call the election hereinafter ordered; and WHEREAS, it is hereby officially found and determined that holding the election on a date other than a uniform election date established by Section 41.001(a), Texas Election Code, is in the public interest and this meeting was open to the public, and public notice of the time, place and purpose of said meeting was given, all as required by Chapter 551, Government Code, as amended. THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF HAYS CONSOLIDATED INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT THAT: I. An election shall be held between the hours of 7:00 A.M. and 7:00 P.M, on February 22, 2003 in said District at the following designated polling places: District Precinct No. 101 Polling Place, Hays Consolidated Independent School District Administration Offices, 21.003 IH-35 North, Kyle, Texas, which lies within the boundaries of said District Precinct No. 101. District Precinct No. 102 Polling Place, Kyle Elementary School, 500 West Blanco Street, Kyle, Texas, which lies within the boundaries of said District Precinct No. 102. .... District Precinct No. 301 Polling Place, Buda Elementary School, 300 San Marcos Street, Buda, Texas, which lies within the boundaries of said District Precinct No. 301. District Precinct No. 302 Polling Place, Tom Green Elementary School, 1307 Goforth Road, Buda, Texas, which lies within the boundaries of said District Precinct No, 302. District Precinct No. 401 Polling Place, Buda Primary School, 400 Farm-to-Market Road 967, Buda, Texas, which lies within the boundaries of said District Precinct No. 401. District Precinct No. 501 Polling Place, Hays High School, 4800 Jack C. Hays Trail, Buda, Texas, which lies within the boundaries of said District Precinct No. 501. District Precinct No. 502 Polling Place, Driftwood Community Hall, Hwy. 150 West, Driftwood, Texas, which lies within the boundaries of said District Precinct No. 502. 2. That the Board of Trustees shall appoint the Presiding Judges, the Alternate Presiding Judges and additional early voting clerks for each polling place no later than 30 days prior to the election date. 3. The Presiding Judge shall appoint not less than two nor more than five qualified election clerks to serve and assist in conducting said election as further directed by the District; provided that if the Presiding Judge actually serves as expected, the Alternate Presiding Judge shall be one of such clerks. 4. Early voting shall, be conducted by personal appearance and by mail at the Hays Consolidated Independent School District Administration Offices, 21003 IH-35 North, Kyle, Texas 78640, and during the period early voting is required or permitted by law, being February 5, 2003 through February 18, 2003, the hours designated for early voting by personal appearance shall be from 7:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. on each day except Sundays, Saturday February 15, 2002, and legal state holidays and on February 6, 11, 13 and 18, 2003, the additional hours of 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.; and early voting clerks shall keep said early voting places open during such hours for early votingby personal appearance. The early voting clerks for said election shall be Debra Gaitan, Lupe Torres, Till Matney, Joyce Simon, Rosemary Oliva, Holly Cass, Annie Malay, Laura Drew, Sylvia Castro, Cathy Wdliams, Brenda Saucedo, Ida Gomez, Margaret Martinez and Charlene DeVinney. An early voting ballot board is hereby created to process early voting results, and Patrick Crimmins is hereby appointed as the presiding judge of said board. The presiding judge shall appoint at least two other members of the board. ..... , 6. All resident, qualified electors of..id District shall be entitled to  at the election. 7. A substantial copy of this Order shall serve as proper notice of the election, and the President of the Board of Trustees shall cause the notice to be published in English and Spanish one time, not earlier than the 30th day or later than the 10th day prior to the date set for the election, in a newspaper published in the District or, if none is published in the District, in a newspaper of general circulation in the District. 8. At the election the following PROPOSITION shall be submitted in accordance with law: PROPOSITION Shall the Board of Trustees of said District be authorized to issue the bonds of the District, in one or more series, in the aggregate principal amount of $104,500,000 for the purpose of the construction, renovation and equipment of school buildings in the District and the purchase of the necessary sites therefor, including the construction of new elementary and middle school facilities, the renovation and improvement of existing school facilities, including Hays and Lehman High Schools, and the development of District-wide technology, with said bonds to mature, bear interest, and be issued and sold in accordance with law at the time of issuance; and shall the Board of Trustees be authorized to levy and pledge, and cause to be assessed and collected, annual ad valorem taxes, on all taxable property in the District, sufficient, without limit as to rate or amount, to pay the principal of and interest on said bonds? 9. The official ballots for the election shall be prepared in accordance with the Texas Election Code so as to permit the electors to vote "FOR" or "AGAINST" the aforesaid PROPOSITION with the ballots to contain such provisions, markings and language as required by law, and with such PROPOSITION to be expressed substantially as follows: PROPOSITION FOR ( ) AGAINST ( ) THE ISSUANCE OF $104,500,000 OF BONDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION AND EQUIPMENT OF SCHOOL BUILDINGS (NEW ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOLS, RENOVATION AND IMPROVEMENT OF EXISTING SCHOOL FACILITIES, INCLUDING HAYS AND LEHMAN HIGH SCHOOLS, AND DISTRICT-WIDE TECHNOLOGY) AND LEVYING THE TAX IN PAYMENT THEREOF 10. In all respects, the election shall be conducted in accordance with the Texas Election Code. ONION CREEK SENIORS ANNUAL MEETING The 20th annual member- ship meeting of the Onion Creek Senior Citizens, Inc. will be held Thursday, March 13, 2003 at the Senior Citizens Center, located at FM 2770 and Barton's Crossing in Buda. The business meeting will start at 10 a.m. Three mem- bers will be elected for three year terms and one member to fill a two year unexpired term to the Board of Directors. A report of the year's activities and financial report will be given. A catered meal will be served at noon. Cost will be $7.
