Page 4C NEIGHBORS Hays Free Press • February 23, 2011 .enges con + "t was indeed a celebra- tion, the charter celebra- , tion service in St. John Lutheran Church in Uhland on Sunday, February 20. Gathered were many visi- tors from various Lutheran churches, members of St. John and other visitors who were indeed welcome. Participants in the service were Rev. Roger Hotopp as Liturgist, Preacher Rev. Michael Newman, Pianist, Mrs. Gladys Sorrell and Mr. Ron Salewsky as Reader. Rev. Newman gave a very inspir- ing sermon in which he challenged the congregation to practice (four Cs) Commit- ment, Contribution, Care and Call. Rev. Hotopp and Rev. New- man served the Lord's Sup- per. New members, John and Susie Carter, were received and welcomed to the mem- bership. Rev. Newman pre- sented the new charter with the Lutheran Church Mis- ODDS& souri Synod to Charlie Orn, church council president and secretary, Barbara Hanna. Many thanks to all that helped with the bountiful and delicious meal, the lovely table decorations and flow- ers, etc. and all other chores that needed to be done.
