March 6, 2H3 s comml ;'f n the weekend of February : .J21--23 about 60 teenagers, ,most from Hays Hills Baptist iChurch, participated in a Disciple '.NOW weekend. Disciple NOW is '.a program where youth in grades 17 through 12 divide into groups ;by grade and gender and spend the weekend with a host church amily. Disciple NOW is designed so the busy youth of today can sign out, attend their other activi- ties, and return without missing ~he whole weekend retreat. The weekend began with a Mexican pot luck dinner for the kids, their parents, host parents, and host home Bible study lead- '.ers. This year the Bible study leaders were Hays graduates Brett McDonald, Helen 'Breyfogle, and four of their .friends from Texas A&M University. They were described by the youth as awesome lead- ers. The weekend was spent hav- ing Bible studies focusing on ',"Seeking the Heart of God," 'having fun, eating, fellowship- 'ping, and a mission project for ',each group on Saturday after- inoon. The 1 lth and 12th graders '.cut down and hauled off two Eleventh and twelfth grade guys and girls clean up Nell Anderson's House2 huge dead trees from Mrs. Nell Anderson's yard. The 9th and 10th grade boys cleaned up and replaced landscape timbers in Mrs. Rosita Barker's flower beds. The 9th and 10th grade girls baked and delivered cook- ies and visited with residents of Onion Creek Village, as well as cleaned up some of their flower beds. The 7th and 8th grade boys picked up litter along South Brodie Lane, and the 7th and 8th grade girls put together packets for Super Hoops Basketball camp which the Hays Hill Youth will put on over Spring Break to earn money for summer camps and mission trip. Sean Sivils, Youth Pastor of Hays Hills, with the help of par- ents and church members had a busy weekend keeping up with these energetic kids.
