Dozens warble their way to state choir competition STAFF REPORTS The Lehman and Hays high school choirs have qualified two dozen students to state competition after the recent UIL Solo & Ensemble con- test. The first level of competi- tion was hosted by the Leh- man Choir and featured vocalists from twenty-five competing schools. Lobo Choir Director Daniel Arre- dondo, admitting pride in his thirteen state-qualify- ing singers, says " I am im- pressed with the level of maturity of musicianship and dedication within this group. The level of talent is off the radar." Arredondo concludes, "I School Briefs Continued from pg. 3B could not be more proud." Nancy Cavendish, his Hays High School counter- part, voices the same level of appreciation for her choir members, eleven of whom advance to state. "We had a total of 29 students with 22 receiving first division rat- ings and 11 qualifying for state. I am proud of their participation." Thirteen Lobos will rep- resent Lehman at the state competition over the Memo- rial Day weekend by virtue of first division ratings on Class 1 Solos. They include Nancy Alatorre, Michaela Castillo, Sesily Faddis, Jackie Fuller, Andreah Garcia, Amber Gar- za, Catherine Gonzales, Brit- tany House, Lea Iefferson, EarUl Day Share Fair Coming Be sure to put Saturday, April 17, on your calendar for the Kyle Earth Day Share Fair. Set for the Kyle City Square Park from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., the free event is a collaboration between Kyle Elementary School and the Kyle Parks and Recreation Department. It will offer a wide variety of hands-on activities focusing on science, math and (naturally) the environ- ment. Those activities include Electrifying Quentin Cummings, Carlton Galvez, Kenny McCardle and Russel Reynolds. Rebel Choir state quali- fiers include Ely Allen, Ie- sha Baranovicht, Christina Barnes, Cristina Caballero, Keeley Hooker, ]enna Kadjar, Alaina McFadden, lake Pin- ner, Stefan Sanchez, Victoria Volker and Carolie Wolf.
