Page 4D Hays Free Press + April 15, 2015 Public Notices + BY KIM HILSENBECK kim@haysfreepress.com Kyle and Buda both saw dips in sales tax revenues in April, based on the latest figures from the Texas Comptroller's Office. Sales tax revenues this month represent sales made in February. Both cities in the northern sector of Hays County took in more than they did in the same month last year. Kyle took in $338,851 in April, down from $383,110 in March, a decrease of 11.6 percent. It took in $320,355 in 2014 for the same month, for a year over year increase of 5.8 percent. So far this year, Buda collected $1.8 million in total sales tax revenue, and Kyle received $1.7 million. DRIPPING, WIMBERLEY Dripping Springs collected $118,668 in sales tax in April, according to the comptroller's report. That figure is up .66 percent over its $117,892 allocation in March. It's also an increase of 16.6 percent over the same month last year. In the first four months of 2015, Dripping Springs collected a total $536,304. Wimbefley, which collected $42,645 in sales tax revenue this month, experienced a 5.2 percent dip over its collection last April. Wimberley received $45,000 in revenue in April 2014. From January through April, Wimberley collected a total of $227,392 in sales tax revenues up from the $207,579 it collected during the first four months of 2014. SAN MARCOS San Marcos, collected the highest sales tax amount of any other city in the county. It took in $1.8 million in April, down 1.8 percent from its March collection. However, compared to last April, San Marcos took in 6.5 percent more in sales tax, up from $1.7 million. So far this year, San Marcos collected $8.9 million in total revenue. HAYS COUNTY Hays County, which collects a half-percent of every sale made inside within its borders, collected $913,085 in sales tax revenue this month. That collection marks an 15.9 percent decrease over its $1 million revenue in March. That's also an 8.4 percent drop from the same month in 2014. Hays County received $4.9 million in total sales tax revenue in the first four months of 2015. Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar said, "State sales tax collections have now grown for 60 consecutive months despite weakening in the energy sector. This moderated growth was expected and is currently in line with estimates presented in January. Receipts in the construction, services and restaurant sectors remained relatively strong. We will continue to monitor the state's economic activity and its impact on key revenue sources."
