Sponsored by the Lobo band's Johnnie B. Green, the team's accomplishments exhibited huge growth in a single season. Lobo Color Guard finishes third in state STAFF REPORTS The Lehman High School Color Guard recently closed out their 2011 competition season in Pearland at the state championships, a huge leap from past years, bringing home the state bronze medal. Friends and supporters note the team's success at the Tex- as Color Guard Circuit State Championships represents a huge and continuing effort by a committed group of young people focused on excellence. Johnnie B. Green, sponsor, has led his students through a heady season, accumulating a host of trophies and medals. Third place in the state cham- pionships brings a promotion to the next division of compe- tition for the 2011-12 season. Calling his students a "fan- tastlc group of performers," Green passed along his grati- tude to a growing host of sup- porters and well-wishers. Just prior to the state meet, the Lehman Color Guard turned in an outstanding performance at San Antonio O'Connor High School, earn- ing a first place ranking go- ing into the final meet. Prior to that, the Lobo Co)lor Guard had scored big at Bowie High School, continuing a climb that had started at VSista Ridge back in January arad gained steam at their owm locally- hosted meet in February. The Color Guard's program for 2011 was rifled '"Spiders!" and featured music from the Blue Man Group and the Kro- nos Quartet. The play portrays a young woman hoping that winning a local beauty contest will enhance her reputation and make her a "somebody."
