Summer hours at Hays CISD cam- puses are Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Trustees focus on leadership Laurie Cromwell, Christie Pogue, Joe Mufioz, Henry Altmiller and Joe Graham of the Hays CISD School Board joined local trustees from across the state at the Texas Association of School Board's (TASB) Summer Leadership Institute this past weekend in San Antonio. More than 2,000 new and veteran school leaders received in-depth training on every facet of effective board governance and heard keynote addresses from nationally known experts. Some of the topics included in the three-day institute included an update on the 78th Texas Legislature, parental rights and the No Child Left Behind Act. Other relevant sessions focused on the district's role in preparing students for higher edu- cation, school fmance, and using data to remove achievement gaps among different student groups. Mrs. Cromwell, presi- dent of the School Board, and Mufioz, secretary, were among the presen- ters. Milli Christner, executive director for the HCISD Education Foundation, joined them in a session, "School Foundations-Gotta Have Them!" They told the Hays CISD success story that includes increased fund- ing, morale, innovation and team leader- ship as a result of the Foundation's efforts. Mrs. Cromwell was part of a panel of school board trustees' presentation, "Telling Your Story," that offered ways districts can make available complete information to the citizens of the district. 007 softball wins sectianals The team photo includes: (front row) Kara Oestrick, Ashley Urbanowicz, Becca Heideman, Alex VanVoorhis and Autumn Marks, (second row) Christina Munoz, Celia Browning, Michelle Sony, Brittany Shelley and Kat Franklin Not pictured is Emilee Price. Sunday's Championship game was against a familiar team from Oak Hill. When the dust settled and time had expired, Hays 007 was victorious with a 11-6 win. This marked the first time that a Hays Softball team has won a Pony Sectional Tournament at any age level since softball began at HYBSA. Hays 007 has qualified for the Pony Regional Tournament to be held July 11-13 in Castroville, Texas.
