Services are pefld- ing with Life Celebration!by Franklin, Taylor. CAPPS James E. "Kaboose" capps, 54, passed away at his ho~'ne in Kyle on Monday, September 20, 2010. Memorial services will be announced at a later date. Arrangements by Pen- nington Funeral Home, San Marcos. FUENTES Bertha Berrones Fuentes, 84, passed away on Sunday September 19, 2010, in Kyle. She was born on January 15, 1926 to Victor and Guadalupe Berrones. She always spoke of her wonderful childhood and cherished her family and friends. She touched man~ people and was often moved to minister to perfect strang- ers. She had a special gift. Her husband, Tony Fuentes, Sr. and sisters, Lupe Lozano, Julia Salas and Locha Arjona, preceded Bertha in death. She is survived by son, Tony Fu- entes, Jr. and daughter, Sylvia and husband Alan McPhei:- son; grandson, Seth Randall Fuentes; granddaughter, family. He worked on the CC Ranch for 42 years, serving as foreman for 37 years. Upon retiring in1991, he remned to his "home place", the place of his birth, where he spent his remaining years doing what he knew best--ranching. Any given morning, you would find Syd at one of the many "watering holes" in Dripping Springs having coffee with the "men" and catching up on the latest news. Every Friday he was at a football or basketball game, despite not having any family members playing; he was always sitting in the same spot. He was very much a part of the activities that encom- passed the ever-growing city that was once his small town. He saw much change in his 94 years. He never met a stranger that he did not welcome into his home, and he left a lasting impact on many. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Louise Wood Hall; son, Sydney and wife El- len; son Cliff and wife Betty; granddaughters, J. Nicole Crisp and Shana Hall-Duraso; great-grandchildren, Bailey and Cody Crisp and Taryne Duraso; sister Mattie Hall Bryant; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. PURYEAR Virginia "Ginny" Puryear, 65, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2010. She was the eldest child of Herman Allan (Ted) Puryear and Lois Virginia (Eckols) Puryear. She was born December 9, 1944. She graduated from Brack- enridge Hospital School of Nursing in 1965. She was a tal- ented nurse and was quickly promoted to Head Nurse of Brackenridge Emergency Room where she supervised for many years. She was also a member of Church of Christ. She had many friends in the nursing profession. As a gourmet cook, she loved to entertain friends and family. It was a real treat to be invited into her home. She was an avid collector of cookbooks, as well as baking and cooking utensils. She had fond memories of her travels to France, England, Scotland and other parts of Europe. Her father, Herman Allan (Ted) Puryear preceded her in death. Ginny is survived by son, Michael Lawrence ployed at San Marcos Air Force Base and GaryAir Force Base. Emma married James Dempsey Scott on March 29, 1932 in Eddy, Texas. She attended the First Baptist Church in Belton. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one sister, Marie Louise John- son; five brothers, I.T. Beavers, Richard Clifton Beavers, Alfred Oliver Beavers, Odiest Beavers and Neal Beavers; and one grandson, Mark Scott Sturdi- vant. Survivors include one daughter, Patsy Lou Scott Sturdivant; one son, Danny Joe Scott and wife Margaret; two sisters, Ruth Thomson and Jennie Mac Richard- son; two sisters-in-law, Lucy Beavers and Kay Beavers; six grandchildren, Freddie Lee Sturdivant Jr. and wife Norma, James David Sturdivant and wife Barbara, Cynthia Jane Sturdivant Creghan, Debo- rah Ann Scott Sullivan and husband Craig, Sandra Carol Sturdivant Floria and husband Brain, Barry Joe Scott and wife Tricia; 27 great grandchil- dren, ]axed Scott Sturdivant and wife Jessica, Cassie Leigh Creghan Addicks and husband Philip, Cody Boone Sturdi- vant, Mandy Lynn Creghan Nolen and husband Cllnt, lud- Amanda Fuentes-McPhersonDriftwood Methodist Church.
